Eigth weeks long I enjoyed participating in a tambú workshop. This workshop was given by Vernon Chatlein and Kunta Rincho.
Tambú is a musical genre that was created under the enslaved in the 17th century on the island Curaçao. The basis of tambú is a mixture of cultures from West Africa.
My mother and I were part of the Ladies of Tambú choir during the Black Achievement Month. The lead singers were Tamara Nivillac and Giovanca.
It was an honor to be able to open the Black Achievement Month with music from my native country.

The last day of the workshop was on december the 17th and was festively closed. Since it was held on my birthday it kind of felt like an after party.
